Ancient Sandstone Etched Brown Nehehkath

Desert sands sweep along the midlength of this dragon’s body from snout to tail fork seemingly sparkling with the golden rays of sun that also glints off his eye ridges and headknobs. Beneath, an interplay of cinnamon and penny randomly alternate to deceptively suggest his hide were constructed of countless tiny bricks. With a distinctive swirl of tawny hues, subtle specks of sepia drifts across the thickness of his neck, up and over the broadness of his shoulders and down the robustness of his heavily muscled body. His underside is dipped entirely in shadow, which leaks down like wet grains down his stout limbs mixing in with mocha and hickory bespeaking of their power and strength, This base only gives way to the blackest night represented by his talons. By contrast, warm midday light represented by caramel and amber touches each neck ridge in turn before sweeping gloriously across broad wings and the length of his heavily blunted tail.

Egg Name and Description

Binding Performance Egg
Antiquity rests upon the sands - the shell of this egg is yellowed and covered with tiny cracks throughout the glistening surface, the cruel touch of time making it's presence known over something that was once a thing of beauty. Faint rosy hues blush upon either side, adding a warm glow to an otherwise pallid complexion with a line of smoky haze connecting the two in a grim and emotionless smile. Two soulless orbs rest above, metallic flecks of persian blue peering out into the world that left this rough shell behind. The finishing touch to the crown of this peculiar ovoid form is a swirl of gold dust which sweeps down from the apex, spreading tiny circular wisps that fade into the crackling surface.

Impression Message

Maybe you were staring at the sun too long. Sunspots dance before your retinas, depleting light and the heat of sands until you're staring out into the vastness of space, where those sunspots have become the vibrant spattering of starlight in tiny pinpricks all around you. « Xyvette. » A presence moves within you, brings you on-board a timeless ship where the comforting scent of home-baked meals wafts to welcome you in. « I am Nehehkath. You are constantly searching, not just for answers to your questions, but for new questions. We are explorers, you and I. Together, we will explore our lives day by day, and we will explore the galaxy trying to expand the boundaries of our knowledge. And that is why I am here: not to conquer you with claws or ideas, but to coexist and learn. »

Benjamin Sisko: There’s an old saying: “Fortune favors the bold.” Well, we’re about to find out.

Out of his shell, Nehehkath is thrust into this new world with foreign faces and things he’s never seen before – he will lean on you heavily in the beginning. What are all these things? Who are these people? What is this place?! The world is going to be his greatest source of suspicion but he’s not going to hide. He’s going to take everything in and roll with it the best his little baby self can, face his fears and push onwards until all those things have been explored and catalogued into categories. Friend, foe, delicious chewy things, nasty bitter things. Armed with an excellent sense of humor, Nehehkath and you will be forces to be reckoned with.

There’s nothing that this brown can’t do, or, at least he’ll try to do. He’ll attempt to do anything that someone dares him to try, provided it isn’t outright stupid. If it sounds thrilling and exciting, it’s much more likely he’ll be game rather than something that he’s sure will just get him into trouble.

There’s also another quirk to this dragon, he /loves/ playing ball. Preferably something that is large enough that he can thwap with his tail and send sailing. He’ll try and rope other weyrlings into playing with him, in some strange elaborate form of dragon-pong. If he had his way, he’d start the very first dragon baseball team. But, that’d be impossible, wouldn’t it? Or.. would it. Maybe he’ll have to con you into getting a human baseball team together for him to live vicariously through you.

Benjamin Sisko: That may be the most important thing to understand about humans. It is the unknown that defines our existence. We are constantly searching, not just for answers to our questions, but for new questions. We are explorers. We explore our lives day by day, and we explore the galaxy trying to expand the boundaries of our knowledge. And that is why I am here: not to conquer you with weapons or ideas, but to coexist and learn.

Growing up with his clutchmates will be a bit of a rocky start, at first, getting to know them and all of their particular quirks. Over time, he’ll find his way to live well amongst them and even have some sort of appreciation for the strangeness of their unique.. uh.. qualities. Despite being incredibly intelligent, Nehehkath will sometimes have trouble with things that others find simple, and that will leave him frustrated. When left to his own devices, however, he’ll find the solution by thinking outside of the box. He loves learning, almost as much as he loves exploring.

Benjamin Sisko: There comes a time in every man’s life when he must stop thinking and start doing.

Benjamin Sisko: Just don't forget the 190th Rule of Acquisition.
Nog: "Hear all, trust nothing."

Your Nehehkath is not a diplomat in training, though he’s quite adept at knowing many of the skills required for it. He’s a firm believer of hearing both sides of any story, but with a certain caveat: take everything said with a grain of salt. Perceptions can be skewed to favor the side that’s speaking, whether or not they realize it. Oh, but he’s a charming young brown isn’t he? Somehow he manages to manipulate them to get all the information he can from them and make it so that both sides are aware that their concerns are being taken seriously. If there is any judgement to be wrought, it is certain that it would be fair. This will certainly help if you find yourself in a position of authority in any capacity. Wingleader? Weyrlingmaster? Your brown is highly capable at managing those positions and doing it with a grace and determination that will be charismatic. He will often be in the ‘know’ even if he isn’t in a position of power, and soon you may find that your brown is the listening ear to the heart of the weyr.

Joseph Sisko: You know, there's something I just don't understand. You're always telling me that space is big, that it's an endless frontier, filled with infinite wonders.
Benjamin Sisko: It's true.
Joseph Sisko: Well, if that's the case, you would think it would be more than enough room to allow people to leave each other alone.
Benjamin Sisko: [sighs] It just doesn't work that way. It should, but it doesn't.

If you think Nehehkath can’t be riled, you’d be wrong. There are only a few things that draw his ire and the first of them is if anyone has any intention of doing anything harmful to you. He is a placid figure in most environments, but when it comes to the things he’s -passionate- about, he’ll defend them without a thought on whether or not it’s right or wrong to do so. Snapping, growling, bitey angry, this dragon can get if things get to the point of severe irritation. The other thing that will draw it is being -tied down-. Woe be it if he ever suffers an injury that makes it so he can’t fly, and explore and /do things/.

That, and for all that he’s charismatic and friendly, there are times when he needs to decompress. To get away from the bustle and buzz of the Weyr he’s too familiar with and just escape. This is where he expects you to go with him, to explore places that may never have been explored before - or even those that have, to meet /new/ people who he’s not had the opportunity to meet. Those people at Igen look much more tanned than people at other places. Why? He needs to know, and unfortunately for you, you might get encouraged to ask questions you don’t really want to know the answers to, like how far /down/ does that tan go?

Joseph Sisko: The question is: what are you going to do?
Benjamin Sisko: The only thing I can do. Stay here and finish the job I started.

Flights? That’s nice. Nehehkath isn’t going to be interested in them in the least. Golds? Nah. He might chase the occasional green if he’s interested but this going to be a few and far between occurrence. Failing to catch? Thankfully, he’s not the type that’ll dwell on such things and will return to your side with an air of indifference… and one demand. (Cause I’m a jerk :D) Ice cream. He’ll demand it over and over and over until you give in and he’ll ask you to share the flavor and texture before he’ll settle down, smug that he indeed won something in the end. If by some fluke he manages to catch a gold, he’ll finish what he started without begrudging the duty of it.

Through the Wormhole
Space: the final frontier. That starry expanse makes a beautiful view, stretching on forever. So vast; too much for any one person to see in its entirety, yet his mind is situated in it to watch other minds come and go, like starships that come to dock here at his station. Here, unlike that cold beyond, it is warm and comfortable (if sometimes a bit chaotic), the air not only breathable but tinged with the sweet or savory scents of cooking and food that make this not only a place of safety he works to defend but a home. It's far from perfect, but it's his - and yours - to make the best it can be. When he speaks, his voice has a deep, husky timbre, like the way the station floor shivers when the positioning thrusters fire. When his words carry more weight for him, that additional intensity can show itself as a wormhole, a flickering tunnel of light that carries the fragments of powerful memories to imprint his will upon those to whom he seeks to communicate his message and negotiate with to further this (mostly) peaceful station where he can watch the harsh beauty of the stars amid the comfortable scent of home cooking.

Xyvette, welcome to weyrlinghood at Half Moon bay! We hope you love Nehehkath as much as we enjoyed building him for you.

Our egg theme this cycle was "Superpowers" and the egg Binding Performance you selected was inspired by the ability to psychically manipulate puppets or Puppet Mastery. Manipulation is a part of Nehehkath's personality, but he will never do it as a means to hurt you or anyone else. Usually, just when he or you really need the scales to be tipped in your favor and only if it benefits all parties involved. Suffice to say, it's a rare occurrence.

Nehehkath's physical description was Inspired by the Pyramids of Giza based on your preference for ancient egypt and their testament to timelessness, as his love for you will always be. No matter what the situation, he will be your monument, your rock, your sentinel. In going with this theme, Nehehkath's name was chosen from a website that provided English translations for Ancient Egyptian words. I selected 'Neheh' (Eternity) and 'Ka' (A person's soul) for his full name to be pronounced as Neh-HEH-Kath or Neh-EH-Kath as you would prefer. As for meaning, it is that his soul joining with your is eternal. Forever. Parted only in death.

Mentally, your Nehehkath is based off Benjamin Sisko, captain and commanding officer for Deep Space 9. He, like Xyvette, knows something of loss and how it affects people, but he possesses a certain sense of boldness, a passion that will hopefully allow her to move beyond herself. He is strong in mind and body, less likely to manipulate and more likely to simply encourage her out into the world. He's also intelligent, well-spoken, and not afraid to stand up for what's right, all things that you asked for and we have hopefully represented well! <3 Tied into the Star Trek theme, Nehehkath's mindvoice is comprised of space in all of its vastness, the starry expanse of the infinite made homey by a space station crafted to contain his thoughts, to make a livable space for you both inside his mind.

The Blinding Performance Egg and its touches were written by Kadesh. Nehehkath was written by R'en, J'en, Ila'den, and Kadesh. Anything above is merely a suggestion. This is your lifemate and you are more than welcome to tweak, rewrite parts, or the whole thing if you so desire. Once again, welcome Xyvette! We look forward to having you. <3
