Western Weyr - Center of the Bowl
This is the center of the huge oval crater of the Weyr. Standing here you can see how immense it is. The cliff sides rise up all around you, dotted with the caves of the dragon rider's weyrs. To the west you can see the arch open to the sea. North is the hatching grounds, south you see the cave entrance to the living caverns, and to the south east the entrance to the infirmary, raised a little from the weyr wall.

Kyldar is here, sitting on the ground, leaning back against green Sinasapelth's great bulk, improvising a tune on her gitar.

Idris leaves the living cavern on her way towards the west bowl, carrying a dirty apron and a basket of food. She's not in any hurry, and when she hears the gitar she is drawn like a moth to flame and stands there listening quietly until Kyldar finishes.

Kyldar continues to play for a while, at four-four time and in a graceful adagio tempo, though a couple more chord cycles and finishing with a flourish. She stands up and curtseys toward Idris, dusting off her clothes. "Hello," she greets friendlily.

Idris closes her eyes as she listens, appreciating the slower melody. As it ends, she opens her eyes and smiles. "Hi… that was lovely. Perfect to quiet down the a grumbling spirit." The smile turns a little rueful. "I wish I had more talent with instruments, though listening as often as I can usually works too."

Kyldar smiles and bobs her head. "Thank you," she thanks humbly. Then: "It's never too late to learn. Music is such a fine and beautiful art, everyone should know a little."
"I used to do a little picking on one of those miniature gitars… just in spare time, really. I spend most of my time baking now," Idris shrugs. "I don't mind so much, though I do miss it every so often. I go listen to the performers at the resort while I'm on breaks, though. Have you played there?"

Kyldar shakes her head. "No, I can't say that I have. Well, I've played at a few public functions at Ista and at back at the Hall, though I haven't had as much time for the big gigs since I impressed Sinasapelth here." She jerks her thumb over her shoulder at the dragon, who raises her head in greeting. "Oh, yeah. I'm Kyldar, journeyman harper, and um, I guess I just introduced Sinasapelth already." She extends a hand cordially.

Idris ehs and nods understandingly. "Guess that's a good reason not to be out playing." She peers up at the green and smiles in greeting to both of them. "Nice to meet you… I'm Idris- just a baker, myself. But I make some of the best sweets in the weyr, I bet you I do." Her expression turns a little daring, grin on her face.

Kyldar smiles and nods appreciatively. "Sweets are good. Life is too short to go without dessert. Give me redfruit bubbly after a good meal and I'm happy." She smiles a bit. "Even if I tend to rail a bit on the soup chef when Sina here goes proddy."

Idris laughs. "Oh, I'm sure he understands- we are in a weyr, after all… I'm sure he gets it all the time. Anyway I do love a good iced bubbly- nothing quite matches it, and they're so easy to make!"

Kyldar smiles a bit. "I remember I pulled kitchen work a couple times for my Weyrling chores. I enjoyed working in the kitchen, actually. I made a nice roasted wherry and some mushroom soup. Of course, my work as a harper has always been my first passion." She looks back at Sinasapelth. "Well, that and my dragon, of course, at least for the last eight turns or so."

"Mmmmm. Love the roasted wherry- especially with just the right seasonings- they make it great at the resort. Not that the kitchen here isn't good too, of course." Idris grins a little, then straightens, remembering. "Speaking of the resort, I need to get on my way back there… it was really nice listening to you, Kyldar. I hope I hear you again."

Kyldar nods and curtseys again. "It was good to make your acquaintance. We'll meet again I'm sure."

Idris returns the curtsy, and heads away, smiling. "Have a lovely evening," she calls over her shoulder before she gets too far.
