Bathing and Brooms

Western Weyr - Hot Springs Cavern

Created by the fires of the volcano a pocket of ancient air has created this huge open cavern in the black stone. Most of the floor is covered by bubbling mineral water that gleams azure in the dim light of glows. Swirls of green, blue, red, yellow, black and white are awash on the walls and floor, earmarks of earlier times when the hot water boiled out of its bed and rose to fill the dark cavern.

A few signs of humanity can be found. A trunk with soft fluffy towels, soap and a boardwalk erected through the middle of the four pools so that people can find their way to the hot water without burning their feet along the way. It is rumoured that an hour in the hot water can melt away even the worse of troubles, leaving a person relaxed and ready to face a new day with vigor.

The day is still young and that is perhaps why Kiley is settled in the pools when fewer people are about. Occasional others do drift in, but those she does not seem to mind as much. There is almost complete silence in the hot springs except for the sound of water moving as people leave or enter or shift about as they do when bathing. Freshly washed and scrubbed, she now relaxes without a care in the world. Her head tilts back, eyes close and she breathes deep and enjoys herself entirely. Peaceful and serene is Kiley.

Zi'on doesn't come to the hot springs too much these days, since he's got his own tub in his own weyr. But today apparently he's been digging in the mud or something, because when he comes in he's pretty dirty and grungy. He strips out of his clothes as soon as he comes into the bathing cavern. He peers around then and spots someone he thinks he recognizes! The bronzer rolls up his clothes and heads over to Kiley's pool and squats down over her. "Boo!" Zi'on laughs then. Clearly still a weyrbrat.

Kiley is blissfully and truly unaware of her impending doom. Especially in the form of a certain bronzerider, and with most of her focus is on not slipping into the pool she doesn't hear him approach. So the outcry from Zi'on earns a loud scream, a flail and then she slips down into the pool with focus now gone. Bubbles that are not the natural bubbles of the pool spill upwards still in a silent unheard scream that is a continuation of the first. And only when there is no more air does it stop and a sputtering computer crafter surfaces. "Jerk!" Comes the first cry of anger, and she attempts to splash the young man with the heated water of the pool. "Why'd you do that?!"

Zi'on laughs as she shrieks. He leans over to make sure she isn't going to drown in the pool, then back as she surfaces again. "Hah!" He shields himself from the water, even though he's about to get in. "I dunno. You look like you needed some excitement." He gets up to move around to the side of the pool, then slides in. "Ah…"

Kiley gives him a look, arms folding across her chest and cheeks coloring a dark shade. "I did not need any excitement. I was relaxing.." She breathes out a soft sigh and slinks back down into the water and shooting him a little glare before singing in a little lower. "How has your day been?" Rather than linger on his previous actions, she moves on at least. Eyes close and she tilts her head back some and draws a deep breath. "Did you wake up recently or have you been up awhile?"

Zi'on laughs. "Sorry. Maybe I need the excitment." He grins to her, specifically at the glare. He ducks under the water, then hops out to sit on the side of the pool to lather. "Alright. I went up to work in the rooftop garden. I planted some veggies and a couple of flowers. I'm off today, so no sweeps. I got up… at a sort of usual hour, I guess." Zi'on is lather-man north of his belly button. Not that Kiley is paying attention. "How about you? How's your day going?"

Kiley wrinkles her nose a little more, giving him another look before rolling her eyes. "You're a bit of a kid." Though this isn't said with any sort of irritation, she merely shakes her head. "The garden up there is nice, I was lingering there one day. You'll have to show me what you planted?" A smile forms and she nods, "that's good. A day off is always good, especially when you seem to work so hard." Her eyes close again and she slowly stretches her legs out in the water, "my day is good. Oh. Enka said you'd have to come see her about the transfer papers, I sent a letter ahead to the Hall requesting it formally, so I'm sure all they're waiting for is Enka's part for it to be official."

Zi'on chuckles. "Yeah. I guess compared to you I am." He chuckles. "Yeah, once things start to sprout and what not I'll take you up there." He nods a bit to her, then dips into the water quickly to rinse off. Then it's back out for part two. "I get days off, it's just hard to tell sometimes because of my schedule." He raises a brow at her. "I have to go see her? Why's that?" Then he shrugs. "Well, alright then. That's fine." When he dips back into the water he reaches over to tickler one of the computer crafter's feet under the water.

"You're acting like one." Kiley insists, giving him a brief look before rolling her eyes back and closing them again. "I'd like that. I've never actually grown anything before." Her hand shifts from the railing to settle in the water, occasionally flicking some droplets of water up. "I can't tell what your schedule is, really. Your days off seem.. Sporadic at best." A tilt of her head and she peeks at him, "she said she didn't want anyone going around in her desk for the transfer papers." A slight shrug is given in response, unable to answer more than that. The tickling of her foot is met with more loud squeals but this time she kicks out at him to either splash him or knock his hand away, whatever happens to work best. Or both.

Zi'on grins to her. "Yep." Apparently he freely admits such things. "It's easy. Just go up and water them if it doesn't rain. Make sure there's no weeds." He laughs. "Yeah. Because I work in two to four hour shifts generally. Whenever they need me. So sometimes my sleep gets broken up throughout the day. I guess since I don't got a lot of other responsibilities they figure I can do fill work." He laughs as she kicks his hand away from her, then slides around to sit/lay next to her. "Didn't want anyone going through her desk? Sounds more like she doesn't want -me- going through her desk. But that's fine. I wasn't going to steal them out of her drawer or something."

Kiley sighs softly in defeat, shaking her head and dropping the subject entirely. "It really can't be /that/ easy." Pause, she looks him over and brows furrow. "Can it?" There's another sound of defeat for that and she shrugs. "That doesn't sound good at all. I'd be tired. Constantly." Her nose wrinkles a little more she presses her lips into a thin line. "Sounds like they're just trying to keep you out of trouble by filling your time with all that work." As he settles beside her she considers him with a curious uplift of her brows. "I don't know. Maybe she has important things in there that shouldn't be read… But I told her I'd help sort the paperwork and such before the computer is done. She also decided on a desktop with the printer, so we should drop that off soon as well. And once they're here I'll get putting them into the computers."

Zi'on blinks and shrugs. "Why can't it? Plants don't really need much else. Sun and water and soil." He chuckles and shrugs. "I dunno. I guess I got used to it or something. Heh, they probably are trying to keep me out of trouble. That's why they made me stand." He lays back against the side of the pool and shuts his eyes. "Maybe. Or maybe she's mad about the other day." He nods. "Yeah. We'll go pick it up as soon as it's ready. Sounds like you're going to be busy, too." The bronzer chuckles a bit. "Taking a break from your project, then?"

"I don't know. There always seemed like there was a lot more to it than just… Water." Kiley chuckles softly and sighs, closing her eyes. "Maybe. Repetitive behavior normally sparks some sort of growth." Another chuckle and she peeks at him again. "I can see why. You get up to no good when you don't have anything to do." An accusing stare is given to him before she breaks out into a grin, even if he isn't paying much attention to her. "Why would she be mad? What did you do?" A soft breath is freleased and she shifts lower into the water. "Mm. I will be. I like being busy." Legs stretch out again and gently kick, but not enough to cause a stir. "Yep. Just a little break."

Zi'on laughs and shrugs. "I got some good soil with fertilizers in it. So hopefully we'll get something out of it." He grins. "I guess. I'm pretty used to it now. And I don't get into much trouble." He opens his eyes long enough to peer at her, and then he grins, too. "I'm also a bad influence." The bronzer goes back to shutting his eyes then. "About the break up I mean. Or whatever you want to call it. Sometimes girls don't let you know they're mad when they're mad." He nods about her taking a break. "Mm. We should go do something fun later then."

"What are you going to do after it grows?" Curious, she considers him again and smiles. "I hope it all grows well, though." Brows lift as he peers at her, "you're getting into trouble by making trouble for others." She insists, giving him the eye before chuckling softly. "How are you a bad influence?" Her head tilts just so before leaning back and resting at the edge of the pool. "You said it was mutual.. There is no reason for her to be mad." Lip press briefly together before she sighs. "I don't believe she's mad. But, you know her better." There's a another tilt of her head, this time to consider him once more. "Like what?"

Zi'on raises a brow at her. "Uh… Well the veggies and stuff I'll pick when they're good. The flowers I'll just… keep watering and such." He grins a bit. "Psh. What trouble have I made for you?" He chuckles. "I got you all ted up in my business with the weyr. Not you're transferring here. And… uh, I dunno." The bronzer shrugs then and looks at Kiley. "Well, I thought it was mutual. But like I said. Sometimes girls are mad and you just don't know. Could be Enka is mad or hurt or something else." Then he thinks for a second. "I dunno. You like music? Or dancing? Or we could just have a bonfire on the beach. Go swimming. I dunno."

"Well, you're not going to give them to a girl?" Teasing, Kiley smiles at him and continues to kick her legs under the water. "You scared me while I was bathing, that is making trouble for me." Laughter spills out and she smiles widely. "I'm glad you did bug me at Landing, so there's that. And now I'm transferring but, not what I meant." She grins widely at him before it fades and she shrugs. "I.. Well, it sounds complicated. That's why computers are easier than people." Another look of consideration is given to the man beside her. "I like music.. I don't know how to dance. We can just.. Have a bonfire? Just like that? No problem?" A soft chuckle and she shrugs, "we could swim."

Zi'on laughs. "The flowers? I dunno. Do you like flowers?" He winks at her. "That's hardly trouble. Just more like an inconvenience. Me sticking around and bothering you is trouble. And everything else I guess." He chuckles. There's a shrug about Enka. "I dunno. I'll talk to her, see what's up." He blinks, then shrugs at her. "Sure, out on the beach. We can roast things, too. Marshmellows, or tubers. I'm gonna need some time before we go swimming though. I'm already pruney."

Kiley nods, "the flowers. I like flowers.." This admittance is soft with a slight coloring of cheeks. "That is trouble! You came up and yelled 'boo' at me. So that is making trouble. I don't see how you sticking around is trouble. Unless you are insisting friends are trouble." Her lips curl into a wider smile before she lets out a soft hum. "She was saying something about being stuck in the Weyr for awhile. Her dragon going proddy, I believe." She tilts her head, a questioning look is given. "I thought those sort of things needed to be.. Planned. I don't know. But, it sounds fun. We don't need to swim if we're going to be roasting and eating things."

Zi'on smiles and nods. "Alright. Well, maybe you'll have some flower then, if they bloom." He chuckles. "Aw, come on. It's not like you peed yourself or I embarrassed you or anything by yelling 'boo'." He peers at her. "You didn't pee yourself, right?" Zi'on face falls at the next bit of news, and he blinks. "Ooh, proddy… last time Mir flew was when I impressed. it's been over two turns now I think." Meaning Zi'on doesn't really know what Enka is like proddy. Scary, maybe. "Heh, bonfires? Why? Not like we need to reserve space on the beach or something. We can visit the stores in the caverns and snatch up some food to roast."

Kiley colors a little bit more and murmurs a soft thanks before she startles and gives him a look. "No, I did /not/. But I fell into the water! I was embarrassed." Her nose wrinkles just a tad before she considers, "don't the gold dragons normally rise more often than that?" There's a curious tilt of her head. "But, I still don't know too much about dragons and.. Proddiness and eggs." Or she just blocked certain things out. "Well, at Xanadu there was a food shortage. There still may be.." She shrugs, "I suppose that it isn't an official thing and it'll just be for fun so no one really minds.." Trailing off, she gives him a cheerful smile. "That'd be fun. I'd like to do that."

Zi'on laughs. "Embarrassed? Why? I'm like the only person here." He nods about gold dragons. "Yeah. At least once a turn, usually. Mir rose a lot when Enka first transferred, but then took a long break. Enka probably ain't used to it anymore, she's probably feelin' weird." He laughs. "I don't know much about proddiness either. I never won a flight or nothin'. I guess Suldith don't like to chase much." He blink at her. "No food shortage here. We're in a tropical weyr though, things grow all turn and we've had good weather." He grins to her. "Alright, I think I'm relaxed enough."

"It's still embarrassing. The thought." Her cheeks color a little more before she quietly considers, "wonder what changed…" Kiley shakes her head slightly and then considers him. "Really? Huh.. Thought they taught extra lessons about it to riders." A shrug is given and she slowly stretches out. "That's good. One of the things I like most about Western is the weather." She admits, "really love the weather. And the fact that things constantly are growing is good, too." There's a soft bit of laughter and she nods, "you get out, first, then. And I'll follow after you leave."

"You mean with Enka? I dunno, probably just Mir decided it was time. Or whatever." Zi'on laughs. "They do, but everyone is different proddy. So it's hard to judge. I mean, they tell you about it. And how it might affect you. But you'll never know until you are. And I never will be proddy!" He grins. "Yeah, the weather is fantastic here. Psh. Fine I'll get out first." He climbs out then turns to offer her a hand up out of the pool. Weyrbred boy, doesn't even register that they're nekid.

"Oh, no.. To change how often she gets proddy." Kiley amends, furrowing her brows. "Everyone's different." There's a soft breath of air released in a hiss before she sinks down lower into the water. "Good to know. At least you'll never be proddy, hm?" The last bit is a little tease. The talk of weather is dropped once he agrees to get out and then oh so quickly she turns away once he climbs out, shaking her head at him as his hand comes into view. "I'll get out after you're dressed and heading out."

Zi'on shrugs. "It's a dragon thing. I think Mir was tuckered out after so many clutches." He grins to her. "Yeah, can you imagine me proddy? I can't. Maybe someday -you- will be proddy. And then you can enjoy it." He laughs. There's a blink as she refuses his hand. "Well… alright. I'm not getting dressed though, my clothes are muddy. So I'm just gonna take a towel." The bronzer probably has a slew of them on his floor in his bedroom. But the bronzer does just that. Once he's got the towel he points. "If you want we can go up to my weyr for a little, or you heading back to your room?"

Kiley hms softly, "I guess it'd be like having a whole bunch of babies.. But then not being able to stop.. You'll want more space between them." Or so her theory goes. There's a slight furrow of her brows before she shakes her head. "I can't imagine you being proddy. I don't think I want to, either." As for the rest, she shrugs. "Maybe, if my dragon is out there." When he relents there's a nod and she continues to avoid looking at him. "Right. Towel is fine." There's a slight glance and then it settles on him once she sees the towl is in place. "We can go up, I guess. I don't need to go back to my room right away." And she brought herself a change of clothing before coming for a bath. She gestures for him to turn around, should he be looking before she climbs out, dries herself and then begins to dress.

Zi'on nods. "I'll never know what it's like to have a baby either. Heh. At least not physically. You were searched, so your dragon is out there. In the ether. Someplace. Not born yet." He nods to her. "I gotta put some clothes on. We can chill there, then head down to the caverns." He chuckles at her motion, then points to the front of the caverns. "I'll be waiting for you over there." He heads over towards the entrance to the springs. He'll probably sneak a peek anyways, he is a teenage boy, but at least it won't be close up.

Kiley hns softly, "if you say so.." She shrugs, "that works for me. I've never actually been in a rider's weyr before." New experiences all around for Kiley. She smiles when he points and shows where he'll wait, nodding. If she''s noticed him peeking, she certainly doesn't say. But, it is far more likely she's too focused on changing to really notice where his attention lingers. She approaches once done, offering a cheerful smile. "Ready."

Zi'on chuckles a bit. "Just don't look in my bedroom while you're up there. It's a mess." He's not kidding, either, even if he is laughing about it. If Zi'on seen anything fun he doesn't mention it either. When she heads over to him he wraps an arm about her shoulders and leads her out. "If the headwoman spots us I'll bet she'll yell at me. 'Zsriston, go put some clothes on and let go'a her!' That's what she'll say. And chase me with a broom."

"I.. Kind've figured." Kiley muses about the messy room, chuckling softly. "I won't look, though. Promise." The arm around her shoulders brings a touch of color to her cheeks as she considers the bronzerider beside her. She looks forward again, walking along with him. "Why would she yell at you?" Pause, "wait.. Why do people keep brining up brooms?"

Zi'on laughs a bit. "I really don't care if you look. But uh… it's messy. Just a warning. The rest of my weyr is clean though." At least mostly. They head out to the bowl to meet up with Suldith. "Because she thinks I'm always into trouble?" Because he mostly was as a 'brat. And the hot springs were always a good place for trouble. "Uh… Who else brought up brooms?"

Kiley laughs, "okay. Messy is okay. I'm expecting it." She smiles a little wider and walks with him towards Suldith. "That's.. Too bad. Maybe you shouldn't get into trouble anymore." There's a soft insistence for this before they're mounting up. "Enka and Jeyinshi brought up brooms." And off they go to hang out for a few hours and talk about stuff.
