A Weyrling Morning

Half Moon Bay Weyr - Weyrling Barracks
Inside the wooden building fresh air circulates from the many open windows lining the two longest walls. Outside, you can see many tropical trees and shrubs. The walls and ceiling of the barracks are made of slats that have been pegged together tightly. Overhead are beams from which electric lights have been strung. The floor is of black volcanic stone, rubbed to a smoothness that will not hurt the tender claws of young dragons.
Along each of the two longer walls are cots set up next to rounded depressions in the stone. There are enough areas available for all of the young dragons and their new riders with room to spare. At the back of the barracks are trunks with oiling supplies and bins where fresh meat is delivered until the dragonets learn to hunt for themselves.

Morning has broken! Or..well it did. Hours ago. It seems that little young dragons tend to sleep quite a bit when they're not eating. But Lychenth is moving now, ever so slowly stretching and lifting her graceful little body up..only to fall right off the couch and land in an upside-down heap on the floor the second she moves, tripping over V'nyk's prone body in the process. WHUMP. V'nyk jerks awake as he's dragged right on down too, yelping at the connection with the floor. "Oof! Oww, Lych.." «I'm sorry! Oh my..everything is the wrong way..» The process then begins of V'nyk trying to untangle them and help right the little green onto her feet.

This whole morning thing was just going to break Jae's soul, it really really was. Not that this was keeping the ever frolicking bundle of energy that was Leketh down! Oh no! « Good Morning! » Nudging at J'en along the region of his midsection with his snout where he was sprawled out on his cot, head hidden beneath his pillow. "Uggghhh," he groans, flopping a hand through the air at the dragonet, it drops back down as he attempts to go back to sleep. « J'EN! J'EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN! » Okay that was all it takes really and the raven-haired weyrling creaks to a sitting position like something from beyond the grave, instantly whipping his head in the tiny bronze's direction. "Lek, I thought we talked about this…" he says, already a growl slipping into his otherwise soft voice. « Talked about what? » Leketh tilts his head to the side like a puppy, before he slips down to the ground from his couch and trots off towards the meat bins, « You are my J'en, never going to change not even with that bedhead. » J'en blinks, and then instantly starts trying to fix his hair in the wake of dragonet laughter.

Slowly, eventually, V'nyk organizes the pile of limbs that he and his dragon have become. He sits there on the floor though for a moment, both hands reaching for Lychenth's head to hold it still. "And you're alright? Didn't hurt anything?" «No, I'm quite fine. I really cannot believe…that there is a dead animal on J'en's head.» Yep, the green has gotten distracted, poking her muzzle in that direction to just watch Jae with whirling eyes. V'nyk..just falls over in a fit of laughter. Yep, back onto the floor he goes. Or maybe he's just trying to hide from whatever wrath he might incur, giving a gentle push to Lychenth to get her moving. "It..it's not.. that's his hair, darling. Now let's get you fed first..and..heh.. Morning Jae!" Finally, he gets up, ushering the green toward the food.

J'en shoots Lychenth a look for that comment, having finally arranged his dark locks into something that far less resembles something squashed and twitching atop his head. He opens his mouth as his eyes narrow, but at the same time Leketh cuts in, « …g-good morning Lychenth! » The feel of his thoughts thickening, becoming heavy and sticky as he sits and waits beside one of the big bin of meat waiting for J'en to get his act together. « You're looking….n-ni-nice today. » Jae eyes his lifemate suspiciously, letting his mouth close and whatever horrible thing that he was going to say be forgotten. With a shake of his head, he slips to his feet and pads over with barefeet to start the feeding process. "Whatever Ryk…" It was morning, but it was looking like it was anything but good.

"Pfft..whatever? Really?" V'nyk just sighs, smiling anyway as he rolls his eyes at J'en's grump. He's following Lychenth though, with the little green trying very hard not to fall over herself along the way. At least she makes it, with a bright little trill of sound for Leketh once she gets there. «Well good morning! I..I am? Oh well that's very kind!» Apparently she wasn't seen in her horrible stumbling accident. Excellent. Her tail twitches though, very nearly sweeping V'nyk's legs right back out from under him. At least he manages to hop it, settling down to get the meat all ready for eating. He leaves it to Lychenth though this time around instead of hand-feeding, watching her get started on it before glancing over at J'en again. "I don't even know what time it really is..and I don't want to know. I guess there's no point when we're waking and sleeping at all sorts of weird hours.."

Having been awoken, far too early, and by the shinning beacon of happiness that is his lifemate it was no small wonder that J'en was grumpy, even if that particular mood was one to which the teen was prone. He gets to making sure that Leketh is filled to nearly bursting before attending to the whole itching situation that was undoubtedly to follow, if only to stop any whining that may have followed. It's a process, and it's done in relative silence, while he lets his lifemate be as awkward as he so wishes. « Oh! I-it's nothing really. » Jae rolls his eyes, nudging at the bronze with his toes. "The hell are ya blushin' for?" he hisses under his breath, making poor Leketh curl up just a bit regardless that this makes getting the places between his joints impossible to oil. « I-I'm not! » "Hmmhmm…" J'en does not believe! "Never mind that shit and relax, I can't get into the creases." Eventually Leketh is oiled and he can put the paddle away, "I ain't never havin' kids. This is messed up." he tells V'nyk, heaving out a heavy sigh as he watches Leketh moon over Lychenth from a very wide distance, his head peeking around an empty vat.

V'nyk sets to the whole oiling process while keeping Lychenth /well/ away from the actual container. He is not about to let an errant tail or limb knock the whole thing over. He gets to work though, with the green sprawling herself partially over his legs. She's still small enough, after all. It won't break them. The healer laughs though, looking between his work and J'en with a nod. "Mm, no arguments there. This one time is /plenty/." Even if smaller, human babies might be a little more managable after dragon babies. Lychenth seems oblivious though to any awkward by Leketh, happy to be getting her oiling and feeding and all of the /company/! It's nice.

J'en snorts and nods in agreement, golden eyes flickering to the awkwardness that is Leketh, though really at this point he had graduated to creeper with the way he was chilling out behind that empty oil vat and watching Lychenth's hide become shinny and bright. A brow pops up at something that went unbroadcasted, if the blink that immediately comes after had anything to say about it. Jae laughs softly, "Man, just go lay down." He gives a chin jerk in the direction of the couch that the young bronze had only just vacated. "We're going back to bed." It wasn't so much an announcement as fact, for both bronze weyrlings are crawling into their prospective sleep spots and are soon unconscious.

V'nyk just shakes his head a bit, though there's that same, immediate look at J'en when there is /laughter/. Creeper Leketh? Lychenth offers a bright little trill at him. SHE SAW HIM. When the two head for sleep time though, the healer just nods, slathering a bit more oil onto the dragonet in front of him. "Yeah, Lychenth isn't far off from that again." He, though…he'll be making a break for food of his own once the green is asleep.
