Of All The Things I've Lost

Half Moon Bay Weyr - The Weyr of Leketh
The interior is almost what you would expect, considering the occupant's choice of riding leathers and straps. Everything is black leather, chrome and glass. Immediately upon entering the space opens up into a small living space which comfortably contains an enormous four cushioned couch, and two armchairs to match. There are two glass tables, one tall and thin situated between the chairs, and the other short and squat nestled in the middle of the setting complete with a blood red shaggy looking carpet beneath. Along the back wall is a fully stocked bar with a black stone slab counter and four tall chrome stools which seamlessly blends into a matching kitchen type area, with all cabinets for storage recessed to save on space. An island serves as both food prep and an intimate dining area with two more of those stools, a refrigerator tucked into a nook where it will not be in the way. To the right, a long row of bookshelves leading to a reading area, a strange looking machine set up on a desk across the way which occasionally makes a mechanical whirring sound, but the single chair pushed up against it says that it probably not as intimidating as it appears. The lighting in the main area is all recessed up into the ceiling, with a panel beside the entryway to control them.

To the left is complex bit of construction carved out of the very rock itself. On the bottom level is a private bathroom with latrine and a glass encased shower, as well as a workbench laid out with various tools of a computer crafter's trade, a single rolling stool the only place to perch. To access the upper level, one will have to climb. A set of stairs depicted by industrial steps affixed into stone lead up to a loft of sorts. A railing prevents accidental falls, and is just wide enough to support the low set king sized bed with its black and red bedding and two small nightstands on either side. Atop them are small electric lights which turn off and on with but a single touch. An upright piano has been tucked against the wall across from the stairs, the stool before it small enough to fit beneath, and a storage space for clothing is hidden behind a silky red curtain just there to the left. All and all it is maximizing space and convenience, but certainly lacks a warm and inviting vibe.

Something bad had happened and it's spilling out onto the ledge that Leketh usually occupies. He's not there now, making it seem rather empty and lonely even if the afternoon was warm and avians were cheerfully chirping in the background. J'en is home, sweeping the floor of a very barren weyr, getting up the last shards of broken glass and bits of wood that remain in the wake of whatever it was that he was up to while Taeski was gone. Big plastic bags are stacked just outside filled with remnants of torn fabric, buckets are filled with a lot more broken glass, his bed and its frame are stacked up along the wall, and the rest of the furniture is notably abscent. It was like the bronzerider was moving out, but remnants of the whirlwind that was a utterly devastated Jaelyn foretells that what had happened, was that he had finally lost control. What it doesn't say, is why. The bookcases are relatively untouched and the one that slides away for Taeski's room is closed. Suffice to say, if it belonged to Jae, he broke it, shattered it, or threw it off the ledge. There is no telling how long ago any of this occurred, unless one asked around, which would reveal it to be sevendays and only just now was he getting around to cleaning up.

There is the brief, but unmistakable sound of a landing on the ledge, though whatever dragon it is doesn't seem to keen on sticking around. There's a whoosh of wings…a pause..and then another rush of air as he or she departs again, leaving a passenger there to eyeball the nearby plastic bags filled with debris. Light, barely-there footsteps bring their owner inside, where a fairly dusty Taeski comes to a halt to take in the absolute travesty that had befallen the weyr he'd come to call home. His head tilts, one hand resting on his hip for a moment as instead he shifts his gaze to watching J'en do his sweeping. "Redecorating?" No, it's quite clear that's not /exactly/ what's going on here, but the renegade's quiet question stands. Sure, the teenager has been gone a little while, but he hadn't exactly expected to return to an utterly destroyed weyr.

J'en scoops up the pile he'd collected into a dustbin, depositing it into yet another bucket. Everything was cleaned up at least, even if it left his weyr relatively empty. His piano was gone, closet empty, walls and floors bare, and even his workbench hadn't been spared. Things that could be salvaged had been shoved haphazardly on top of it though, and the shower was missing every bit of glass or mirror. J'en himself? Well, he had more than a few new scars that were still pink, easily seen considering he wasn't wearing more than his riding pants and his boots. Covered in a thin sheen of sweat, golden eyes dart instantly to the ledge as someone lands on it, setting the broom aside in order to investigate with a few steps forward, but stops the second he sees a dusty Taeski. "Taeski?" he asks, sounding hollow and broken for a single moment, certainly not the state in which the poor boy had left his stoic weyrmate. Still, quick long strides take him to the grey-eyed boy and he crushes him to his chest, burying his face in his neck as his arms wrap desperately to him. After all, he hadn't even known if his weyrmate lived or not, what with all the wandering in the wilderness looking for renegades.

There's a bit of breath lost as Taeski is scooped up, arms quite instinctively coming up to curl around J'en in return. He doesn't complain about the slightly restricted ability to breathe. He simply holds on, nuzzling close and inhaling the very smell of the other boy. He'd missed this, and /him/. Fingers slide into the short hair at the back of Jae's head, holding him close. "I said I'd be back, didn't I?" Soft words, really, given in a murmur against J'en's ear. But he does look over his shoulder after a moment, at the barren weyr before letting out a breath. "I'm alright. See?" Yes, the renegade is quite intact and very whole, tugging the bronzerider's head back to seek out a kiss. It's brief, however, instead looking intently at the older boy. "What happened?"

It might be a while before J'en lets go of Taeski, though his grasp does lessen fractionally when it sinks in that the smaller boy might not be able to breathe all that well. It's enough to bring his lips crashing down over his, not allowing such a brief exchange as perhaps the renegade might have wanted. It was as if he needed to make sure that he wasnft hallucinating this welcomed return into his arms. However, when it ends, J'en can't even look at Tae. There is hesitation, but in the end his need for complete and utter honesty wins through. "R'hyn…is with Ila'den." This might be confusing to someone who didn't know the whole story as to why that would be a problem, which the renegade did. Jae had fallen in love during candidacy with Heryn, before they impressed to become J'en and R'hyn. It had carried on into weyrlinghood, but R'hyn had always kept the boy at arm's length despite their mutual attraction, panicking whenever love or weyrmating was brought up, apparently because R'hyn thought himself too broken to love anyone properly. They had split up not too long before J'en had met Taeski, and the rest was history.

Taeski is certainly not against the amount of extended time being kept in that kiss. No, he clings to J'en a bit for it, absolutely willing to drown in it for a bit. When it comes to an end however, and that brief explanation is given, the teen's expression cools ever so slightly. It's not at J'en, however, that whatever dark thoughts he has is directed at though. Oh no. "Ah." It's offered softly, fingertips reaching to slide along the bronzerider's jaw. "I could break something. Just a finger or two…" And chances are…that the teen would, even if he doesn't /quite/ seem serious about the offer. "Let the idiots have each other." It's coldly given, really. So what if one of the two is his uncle? The fact that J'en was hurting was quite a bit more important.

Jae's lashes lower for the soft caress that comes to the line of his jaw, unable to help the shiver that the gesture elicits, or the soft intake of breath as goosebumps appear along the tattooed side of his neck. If anyone had J'en wrapped around his finger, it was Taeski. There might be moral limits to the things that he would be willing to do for the renegade but they're all likely just short of murder. "That's very temptin'…" he responds, "I'll keep it in mind." The bronzerider usually even tone is now audibly cooler, icy. While Taeski might not have meant to offer his services to that end seriously, it still sounds as if consideration on his part was. For the most part, J'en had done everything he could right now to vent some of the anger and betrayal he had felt, and now they'd be sleeping on Tae's narrow bed rather than his own spacious one. In the end, it had solved nothing, and only given him more problems.

After sleeping on the ground plenty of nights, Taeski isn't about to complain about a small bed. There's a slow smile though for J'en's consideration of the offer. After all, the teenager has no /real/ issue with doing something violent. He brings his lips back in contact with Jae's for it though, giving a slow caress of a kiss before parting again. "I'm filthy, though.. The shower still work?" At least there's a small one in his own room that can be used. There's no scolding for the bronzerider taking out his anger on the weyr. Sometimes..that stuff just needs to be released, violently if necessary.

"I'd use the one in yer room." J'en suggests after returning that second kiss, having held the renegade that much tighter in the process just until it was over and he very reluctantly relinquishes his grasp. Long legs carry him to the wall with the bookcase and soon it is sliding open and reveals Taeski's room, untouched, by the violence that the bronzerider had wrought in the wake of his grief. It certainly suggested that he cared very little for his own possessions, but those things that were his weyrmate's were far too precious. He steps inside making his way to the bed and lowers himself to sit upon the edge of it. There was definitely something different about Jae, even with the warmth and welcome of their reunion. While far from being suicidal, part of him had given up, and where there should have been sadness or anger there was only the chill of his presence and the distance he had put between himself and the rest of the world.

The fact that the larger bathroom /is/ confirmed as being…unusable earns a faint sigh from Taeski. Well he did /like/ that bathroom, after all. But he follows after J'en, gaze absolutely locked to the bronzerider's back the whole time. The fact that his little space is intact? It doesn't seem to concern him, not once glancing around the room. Instead he follows after Jae to the bed, ignoring his need to clean up for the time being. Instead he drops one knee to either side of his weyrmate, situating himself there with hands pulling the older boy's head up to look at him. "They are so far beneath you, J'en…" He tilts his head just a little bit then, lashes lowering faintly over steely eyes. "I am yours. Remember that."

That was a really great bathroom and it would take time and money to replace all of the glass and fixtures that Jfen had busted up in there. While Taeski's facilities were constructed in much the same design, it was only suited for one person at a time and was more stall than playground. As Taeski comes to kneel before him, Jae's eyes follow his progression, watching the grey-eyed renegade worry for him, but his features do not soften from their mask of calm and collectedness. His own lashes lower, lifting a hand to drag the back of his fingers along the side of one of the younger boy's cheeks, "Go shower," he says, not losing the coolness or evenness of tone, "I'll be here when ya get out." No, he didn't want to talk about Ila'den and R'hyn anymore, and if there had been any doubt as to Taeski's love for him, the renegade may have returned to an empty weyr without explanation or reason. That much, should be crystal clear.

The response gets a faint smirk from the renegade, nodding ever so slightly. There was little he could really do to repair the bronzerider, but so long as he kept in mind that Taeski loved him, he would be content. Fingers linger though a moment, a bit reluctant to part again even as he gets back up. "Won't be long." His shoes are kicked off right there, and the teen peels off his tunic on the way into the bathroom, giving a flashing reveal of that tree tattooed on his back before he disappears and the water begins to run. He /had/ been out in the wilderness for some time, after all. Not exactly good showers possible for that time period. And though he may take a bit of time to soak in the absolutely heavenly feel of hot water, the teen doesn't take too long with getting himself cleaned up again. Eventually the water stops, and Taeski appears again. He doesn't bother with clothes for the moment, using the towel to dry his hair as he emerges from the bathroom.

What could be salvaged of the bronzerider remains to be seen, if anything at all. Taeksi would have to adapt to the new J'en, just as everyone else, and weather it until such a time as it changed or was officially confirmed as permanent. J'en keeps his gaze locked on his weyrmate's, inclining his head towards the touch as it lingers. There is a simple bob of is head for what is said, watching as Tae strips down to his skin and disappears into the shower. He's still there, still watching and waiting, when the renegade reappears seemingly not having moved a muscle until apparently certain that the boy hadn't vanished on him or was some sort of hallucination. "I've missed ya." he says after a long silence, eyes fixed to his face despite all of the blatant nakedness.

Taeski still works the towel against his hair, pausing a moment to look at J'en when he speaks up. His own expression does soften a bit, nodding ever so slightly. "I've missed you too." The towel, he eventually tosses right back into the bathroom. He can clean up his mess later, thanks. He does pick through his drawers though, finding a loose tunic to put on. It's a bit overlong and falls off one shoulder, but works for the purposes of covering up..somewhat. He returns to the bed then to sit down beside Jae, leaning right against his arm, eyes half closed to simply absorb being close to the bronzerider. "I'm here though, in one intact piece, even."

J'en watches the transition from freshly showered, to somewhat covered without speaking another word, and even as Taeski had told him he too was missed there is no reaction to it or the fact that the towel is tossed onto the floor. Instead, the bronzerider waits patiently where he sits on the bed, unmoving even as the renegade drops himself to sit beside him and leans against his wiry muscled arm. "Are ya hungry?" he asks, still as cool and stoic as before Tae had tossed himself in the shower to wash off sevendays of mud and grime. Though, the volume had decreased to something softer even if there was no change in tone. "How long are ya stayin'?" Ah, so at least it doesn't take long to get to the meat of the matter and perhaps one of the reasons why J'en hadn't dared to budge throughout the length of that shower.

Taeski laughs lowly at the question, lifting his head to look at J'en skeptically. "Do you even have any food?" After all, the weyr looked…rather barren. He settles for looking fairly amused though, fingers drifting over the back of the bronzerider's hand in a thoughtful manner. "I am, though." He'd certainly not deny that his appetite hasn't decreased..at all. He doesn't seem too terribly keen on getting up though, looking J'en over for a moment or two before the question of him sticking around is brought up. Indeed, the renegade winces just a little, hefting a small sigh. "We haven't found them yet.. We needed supplies and everything, so I need to go back out in the morning." No, he's none too happy about the amount of time it's taking.

The bronzerider nods his head once when asked if there was even any food to be had and considering that the fridge was one of the few pieces of furniture that was still standing it was a safe bet. The caress to the back of his hand causes his shoulders to stiffen from there seemingly ever relaxed position, goosebumps suddenly appearing upon his exposed flesh and he inhales sharply. Well, some things hadn't changed. Jae's 'training' was still securely in place. Golden eyes are there, waiting, however as he softly exhales and looks at Taeski as if trying to burn him into his brain. J'en drops his gaze though without much of a change in his demeanor for the news that the renegade had been unsuccessful in tracking down lost bronzerider and kin alike, other than the tension in his shoulders fading away. He knew that Tae was with Vauril, and R'hyn out there but he doesn't inquire after either of them. Maybe he didn't want to know. "I see."

"Tell me to stay and I will." Taeski tilts his head just a little bit, watching J'en for a moment. As much as he wants to find the siblings that were taken, there's a bit of a war with that and the fact that he loves the bronzerider dearly. If asked to stay..he would. But the teen does get up, not bothering with silly things like pants as he finally makes his way back out of the room. He /was/ hungry, after all, and bringing up that fact only made him more aware of it. Since that fridge is intact, he hurries to poke around in it, bare feet padding on the thankfully cleaned floor.

Without hesitation, J'en shakes his head. "No," he says, lifting his eyes back up from the floor and returning them to the renegade. "Ya need to do yer thing, for Vauril and yer kin." There is no mention of the others, within the search part or object of it. He had meant it when he said he didn't want to talk about them anymore. The bronzerider remains where he is seated though as Taeski gets up and heads out to poke around the surprisingly well stocked refrigerator. Only once he's out of sight does Jae bury his face in his hands, his shoulders trembling. It's just a moment of weakness and he makes no sound at all that might signal to the younger boy that he is anything other than perfectly fine with his decision. He inhales deep and slow, quietly releasing an unsteady breath as he wipes quickly at his face before any show of his despair can shine through, swallowing thickly as he rolls his eyes up towards the ceiling. In another heartbeat, he exhales again, rubbing his hands up and down the length of his leatherclad thighs and shoves himself to his feet. Moving into the small bathroom, he washes his face and gets rid of the evidence.

The fact that J'en takes a bit longer than necessary to follow…isn't lost on Taeski. There's a glance given to the door of his bedroom, but he sets about instead gathering up a few things to eat. Nothing that needs any particular amount of preparation, at least. A simple sandwich is plenty to satiate the hunger he has. There's a faint sigh though after taking a bite of what he makes, turning to lean back against the counter with it. He makes sure not to stare too much at the door that the bronzerider hasn't yet appeared from. Instead he takes another bite, sinking back against the support of the counter. At the very least he was clean again. He was tired, that much was true, but being clean and fed did /wonders/ for that.

Washing his face, J'en places his hands on either side of the sink, and stares down his own reflection. Brows slowly sink into a furrow and his features twist into an expression of disgust with a low rolling growl too soft to carry itsef to staining ears. Shoving himself upright, he turns off the water and dries himself off. By the time that he emerges from the room, he looks no more worse for wear than he did when the renegade reappeared on the ledge. "Didja find everythin' ya needed?" he asks, voice back to being cold and distant. Of course none of this was directed at Tae, but it was what it was.

Taeski is still working on his sandwich. There's a quick look towards J'en though, before freeing up a hand to wave the bronzerider over. "No, because you're over /there/." Being kept too far away from his weyrmate while he was /home/ didn't seem to be something Tae was keen on. There's a generalized gesture to the air in front of him. "Come over here." Even if Jae is cold and distant, he doesn't need to have /physical/ distance. Another bite is taken..then another as the teen has..rather rapidly /devoured/ the sandwich he made. Crumbs are brushed from his fingertips, sighing as his stomach finally agrees that it has food within it.
